Unfortunately I became sick the middle two days of our stay in Chicoana and could not help with the community service, but I will fondly remember our time in Chicoana. The night of our final day in Chicoana we left for the first stop of our horseback riding adventure. When we arrived later that night, we discovered enormous spiders in our rooms, and so obviously I barely slept at all. I really wish I had some pictures, but I don’t. However I survived and the next day we started riding horses. Instead of riding a horse, I rode a mule because they ran out of horses, but I was fine with it, and the mule turned out to be very trustworthy, although not very smooth. We went from forest the first day to mountains the second day and desert the third day and all the way back again, and it was incredible to see all the different landscapes.
This is a view of the mountains from a terrace during lunch during the horseback riding.
Directly after horseback riding, we went to Cafayate, a small town in the Salta province. We rode a three person bike, went to a wine tasting, and trekked. We also went to the Quilmes ruins, the ruins of a city of the Quilmes , an indigenous Argentinean people who resisted the Spanish in vain. We finally went back to Salta and spent the night, preparing to leave for Buenos Aires the next day.
Our group took a photo next to a waterfall while trekking through the Salta province.
