EIL Argentina: Harris Elledge

The night before my trip started, I could barely sleep. I had never traveled much before, and never out of the country. When I arrived in Miami, I was eager to meet my group and see who I would be spending the next 33 days with. My first impression was that they were pretty relaxed and cool, and also all my age for the most part as well. This first impression proved to be correct and I will say that my group and the time I spent with them was the most rewarding and fun experience of the trip.

This is a group photo en El tigre, a delta neighborhood north of the main city of Buenos Aires. As a group we took a boat tour of the neighborhood.

The first part of the trip was Orientation, a three day stay in Buenos Aires exploring the city. We would have stayed four days, but our flight was delayed because of ash from the volcanic eruptions in Chile. We walked around and learned about the different neighborhoods and their origins. Our hotel was on La Avenida de Mayo, very close to the main plaza in Buenos Aires, La Plaza de Mayo, where La Casa Rosada is, where the President of Argentina works. This is a view of the Plaza de Mayo, the main plaza in the city and also La Casa Rosada, the building where the President works.
