04/07-06/07 entry: Noah Fardon

04/07
Hello! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE UNITED STATES. It's a bit strange to be in France on the Fourth, and though I'm a bit sad not to be celebrating it with family back home, I am excited to be celebrating it in minimalist fashion with my host family here. To do so, my brother and I went out for some breakfast, and because he thinks it is the perfect way to celebrate, he tells me we're watching Full Metal Jacket tonight...hmm...

Blois is beautiful. It is very small, just about 50,000 people, and completely centered around a grand chateux (castle) that I visited around lunch time with my host brother, and my fellow EIL group members and their host siblings. It was fun and I am beginning to become real friends with many members of my group. I have to go, because it's time for dinner. Good Night!

Life in Blois is beginning to appear rather slow. For those who don't have jobs, there is not much to do, and the promise of EIL group events coming up in the next few days is one of the only things I have to really look forward to. Luckily, the relaxed course of the day gives me a chance to do a lot of reading, and it's great to be able to see the English language, seeing as I don't get the chance to speak it often. I have a habit of writing down quotations that I love, and I've been having fun trying to translate them to show my host brother, who seems to have a similar interest in quotations from All the Kings Men... un peu bizarre, non?! Good Night!
